Who We Are

The BC Federation of Foster Parent Associations is a provincial organization for foster parents and is governed by foster parents who represent all areas of the province.

BCFPA is a registered non-profit charity that aims to bring together foster parents, social workers and other stakeholders who are working to improve the standard of care for children in our province. We provide information to the general public about fostering, recruitment services to MCFD and DAAs, offer foster parents opportunities for education and provide direct support to foster parents when they encounter challenges in the work they do.

One of our key roles in the province is to collaborate with the Ministry of Children and Family Development on the development and revision of policy and practice for BC’s child welfare sector.

Becoming a Foster Parent

Right now there are more than 1000 kids across BC who need temporary foster families when they can’t live at home. Many of these children and teens come from hard places; however, fostering can have a huge positive impact on their lives.

At BCFPA we have a wealth of resources for foster parents, youth in care, and staff members looking for information.

Membership

As a member of BCFPA, you have access to the only agency in the province that was created 50 years ago by foster parents, for foster parents and sector workers, that is governed by foster parents from across the province.
